English Women's Stroke Play Championship - Results

Congratulations to Bel Wardle.

Hosts Wallasey Golf Club congratulate Bel Wardle of Prestbury Golf Club for her thoroughly deserved and comprehensive victory in the English Women’s Stroke Play Championship, the second time she has won the prestigious trophy.

Bel produced a phenomenal performance on the final day of the English Women’s Open Stroke Play Championship to win by nine shots at 16 under par, and reclaim the title she picked up back in 2017.

Having shot a round of 67 (7 under) in strong winds in Wednesday's second round to put herself into the overnight lead, she returned on Thursday and showed no sign of nerves as she recorded superb rounds of 67 and 68 in much calmer, warmer conditions on the final day to pull clear of Ellie Gower in second and Lorna McClymont and Amelia Williamson who tied for third.

Both players and officials were particularly complimentary of the condition of the course and grateful to the volunteers, green staff and catering team who helped to make the event so successful.

Wallasey Lady Captain Alison Bluck was in the presentation party together with Jenny Clink (Immediate Past President of England Golf). Bel is also photographed with Course Manager John McLoughlin and putting out on the 18th Green.

Wallasey Golf Club look forward to hosting England Golf events again in the future.
