Ladies County Foursomes Champions!

Congratulations to Julia Gibson and Julia Mountfield on becoming Cheshire Ladies Foursomes Champions. 

The Cheshire championships are held every year at Delamere Forest Golf Club competing for the Doris Chambers Trophy.  This event is held over 2 days, with 4 rounds of knockout handicap foursomes. The 2 Julia’s, with a team handicap of just 6, played teams from High Legh, home club Delamere Forest, Bramhall Park and then Romiley in the final, giving 8,7,3 and then 9 shots in the final. Their matches were won 5&3, 3&1 then 1up in both the semi and final.

The icing on the cake was a fabulous hole-in-one on the 12th in the final by Julia Gibson - this proved to be a crucial point in the match giving the Wallasey ladies a 2up cushion, with 3 shots still to give in the final 6 holes. Romiley only won one of the shot holes which meant a 1up score on the 18th tee, knowing a half would therefore seal the championship. And a half it was, as a nice chip to the green from Julia G left a 7ft putt for Julia Mountfield to seal the victory.
